Simplifying a ratio
a : b = (a ÷ GCD) : (b ÷ GCD)
GCD is the greatest common divisor: the largest whole number that divides both values exactly.
Example
24 : 36 = 2 : 3
Both 24 and 36 are divided by their greatest common divisor, 12.
