Route parameters are dynamic segments in a route URI. A parameter is written in braces, for example /users/{user}, and Laravel passes the matched value to the route closure or controller method.

They are useful for identifying a resource or filtering a request. Parameters should be validated through route constraints when their format matters, and model binding can resolve a parameter directly to an Eloquent model instead of leaving the controller to repeat lookup logic.
